Punch is a baby Japanese macaque born on July 26, 2025, at the Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan.
After being rejected by his mother, he was hand-raised by zookeepers. Today, he carries everywhere a stuffed orangutan plush toy — reportedly an IKEA toy — which he uses for comfort.
Since being introduced to the other macaques in January, Punch has struggled to socialize and is often seen hugging the plush orangutan as a substitute for the mother he never had.
