Four women. One mountain.
And a dawn hike that started in complete darkness under the full moon.
This weekend, we couldn’t join the full-day hiking group, so we decided to climb Qaf—our safe mountain, our familiar home—just the four of us: Sahar, Sara, Parya, and Masoom.
We started our ascent at 6:30 AM, when the world was still asleep and the orchards were silent after the rain. No other hikers were on the trail; we were the first Qaf hikers of the day.
This climb had everything:
• hiking in the dark
• fear of wild animals
• freezing cold wind
• two different routes
• a half-finished dream we finally completed
• rope support on a new rocky path
• cinnamon tea and fire-boiled chai at the summit
• deep conversations about pain, joy, and why we climb
• and finally… the mother donkey and her tiny foal blocking our way.
It was a simple half-day plan that turned into a memory we’ll never forget.
And once again, Qaf welcomed us like it always does—quiet, safe, and generous.
