4th Annual Artists My Father Liked Covered By Artists I Like Series (9 of 9) We’re going slightly off theme again here, but one of the last things of Dad’s collection I went through was a box of cassettes, 45s and CD-Rs full of mostly folk and traditional compilations or self-releases. Lots of very old school bluegrass and Appalachian folk, including a number of versions of this one. One was a 45 of Lead Belly’s 1946 version that he titled “Where Did You Sleep Last Night?” (along with his version of House of the Rising Sun which should be submitted later on). You might also be unfortunately familiar with a cover by Nirvana, which gave Kurt Cobain some artistic cred he didn’t deserve (yes I still hate Nirvana). Anyway, Khemmis is another of my low-key favorites that I haven’t sent in before, but they’re a mostly doom metal band from Denver around since 2012. This track is from their 2023 EP “Where the Cold Wind Blows.” Hope you liked the series.
