Welcome to Colombia
Colombia is opening up not only in tourism but also in diversity and the LGBT movement also shows its teeth. I did not get exact numbers but it was said that the the first march was in the 80s. In Bogota today we can find liberal standards and also whole districts are very open and relaxed about same sex relationships. Saying that on the march it was obvious that all the participants where young. This not only because the average age in Colombia is low but also because the older generations are still afraid of the repression the faced only some years ago.
The parade was a great and colourful spectacle where many people expressed their love and anticipation. The parade was much bigger then in the recent years and was very well organized. Due to heavy rain I did leave the final at the Bolivar square early and do not know how the party went on there but I am pretty sure, later in the clubs the heat was very high.
