When children become dysregulated, distracted, or reactive, adults often focus on the behavior.
But behavior is often a signal of something deeper.
Children are constantly scanning their environments at home and in the classroom, asking one unconscious question:
“Am I safe here?”
If a child perceives something as an emotional threat, their brain shifts into protection mode.
When the brain is protecting itself, learning becomes much harder.
In this conversation we will explore:
• What helps children feel regulated
• How classroom and home environments influence nervous systems
• Why some children experience emotional threat even when adults don’t see it
• What parents and teachers can do to help children feel safe enough to learn
Because before learning can happen, a child’s nervous system must feel safe.
