Spoiler alert - after a whole lot of time and energy, I found that the water was coming into the car in areas behind the bumper.
I hope this helps. All trunk leaks are unique and I recommend taking paneling off inside, running water over the car for a few minutes (doors closed of course) and then sitting inside with a flashlight and waiting for about 30 minutes to see if you can see any spots where water is coming in. These leaks were on the slower side so they took a good 10-15 minutes to really begin to be visible from inside the car.
I’m glad I was persistent. We can use this car again.
