A timelapse of the Total Lunar Eclipse that occurred on March 3, 2026. This eclipse was visible from North America, Asia, Australia and the Pacific. The Moon turns red during a Total Lunar Eclipse because red light is being refracted onto the Moon by the Earth's atmosphere. Totality lasted for about 59 minutes. The moon passed completely into the Earth's umbral shadow. A scenery view is also included at the end of the video showing the sky get darker with the Moon totally eclipsed. The next Total Lunar Eclipse visible from the U.S. will be on June 25, 2029.
*Note: In some pictures the Moon appears blurry due to clouds passing in front of the moon during the first half of the eclipse.
All pictures were taken by me through my 8-inch Dobsonian Telescope from Chandler, Arizona between 1 AM - 6 AM. Please credit me if you wish to use any of my pictures or the video in your content.
