Venezuela has launched a nationwide military deployment dubbed “Coast Independence 200”, spanning eight coastal states, to reinforce national sovereignty and internal stability amid growing regional tensions.
Defense Minister and Vice President for Defense and Sovereignty Vladimir Padrino López oversaw the drills across La Guaira, Miranda, Anzoátegui, Falcón, Nueva Esparta, Carabobo, Sucre, and Zulia.
During the deployment, Padrino warned against alleged covert operations by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), vowing that any attempt to destabilize Venezuela would fail. He described the exercises as a necessary response to what he called a “gross military threat” emerging in the Caribbean region.
The Venezuelan government has repeatedly accused foreign powers—particularly the United States—of interfering in its internal affairs through espionage and destabilization campaigns. Analysts say the exercises serve both as a show of force and a domestic signal of resilience ahead of upcoming political milestones.
