Описание: This was the finals of the FIRST World Open Hang Gliding Championships held in the United States at Escape Country in Trabuco Canyon, El Toro, California, April 12, 1975. The meet was covered by well-known sportscaster and show host, Ken Squier, and televised on CBS Sports Spectacular. With 150 pilots from five countries and 15 states participating in the meet, a 21 year-old Burke, flying one of his own company's Halcyon Hawk gliders, was one of the top ten finalists and one of the featured fliers on the show who mounted a 16mm film camera on his glider to record his flight. You'll see in this excerpt from the show that Burke had troubles when one of his harness straps broke and, even though he came in just short of a bull's-eye on that flight, he placed fourth in the world at this meet. He flew the "Aerial Ballet" to one of his own compositions and he and Curtis flew for the crowd. Also note: This clip includes footage of Burke's soon-to-be good friend and business associate, legendary pilot Bob Wills.
