Mythunderstood exists because something essential has been lost. Poetry is fading. Philosophy is breaking. Theology is being forgotten. And yet the world is still saturated with goodness, truth, beauty, and mystery. This project is about recovering those realities through the minds of writers like J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, Edmund Burke, and others who understood that myth and wonder are not escapism, but a way of seeing reality clearly.
This first episode begins with J.R.R. Tolkien, the author of The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion, not just as a fantasy writer, but as a Christian thinker whose life was shaped by suffering, war, and faith. From the death of his parents, to the trenches of World War One, to his deep Catholic conviction, Tolkien learned how to pierce darkness with light. The Lord of the Rings was not written as entertainment alone. It was forged in despair, hope, and belief in Christ, and it continues to speak because it was born out of real suffering and real faith.
This episode explores why fairy stories matter, why wonder matters, and why stories like The Lord of the Rings still resonate in a world filled with anxiety, depression, and spiritual conflict. We may not be carrying rings to Mordor, but we are facing real evil, real darkness, and real choices every day. Mythunderstood is an invitation to wake up, to see clearly, and to hold fast to the light of Jesus Christ when the world grows dark.
