A reversible pattern made from a single row. Very easy.

The number of stitches is a multiple of three.
3+3+3....1+2.
Pattern:
Row 1: setup row. 1 purl stitch, 2 knit stitches. Row 2: Slip 1 stitch (as if to knit), knit the next stitch, take a loop from the row below and place it on the working needle, knit it from the bottom through the front loop, then slip the original stitch onto the needle. Knit 2 stitches together through the back loop.
Row 3: Same as row 2. The stitch is a purl stitch with a double loop, purl it. For the knit stitch, take one strand from below and pull it onto the needle. Knit it from below, then slip the original stitch onto the needle.
Continue knitting in the same way until the desired height is reached.
