मालवा की धरा पर शाक्त धर्म (शक्ति) की पूजा के कई ऐतिहासिक साक्ष्य मौजूद हैं। ताम्र पाषाण काल से लेकर गुप्त काल तक की विरासत संभाले दंगवाड़ा में एक शिव मंदिर है। इसका नाम बोरेश्वर महादेव मंदिर है। स्थानीय स्तर पर प्रचलन में है कि बोर जैसी आकृति के कारण इसका नाम बोरेश्वर पड़ा। हालांकि इस अनूठे शिवलिंग के बारे में कहा जाता है कि इनकी जलाधारी से कभी पानी खत्म नहीं होता है। चंबल नदी भी मंदिर की परिक्रमा करके निकलती है, लेकिन शिव के सोमसूत्र का उल्लंघन नहीं करती।

उज्जैन से 36 किलोमीटर और इंगोरिया से 6 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर दंगवाड़ा में बोरेश्वर महादेव का मंदिर (Boreshwer Mahadev Temple)स्थित है। यहां महादेव की विलक्षण और स्वयंभूलिंग मूर्ति है। महंत दीनदयाल गिरी ने बताया, यह मंदिर अतिप्राचीन सिद्ध स्थल है।

बोरेश्वर महादेव में 12 ज्योतिर्लिंगों का समावेश है। महादेव की जलाधारी से कभी पानी खत्म नहीं होता और हमेशा एक समान बना रहता है। जलाधारी में कितना ही पानी डाल दो वह हमेशा एक जैसा रहता है। न ज्यादा होता है और न कम होता है। महंत गिरी ने बताया कि मां चंबल नदी बोरेश्वर महादेव की परिक्रमा करके गुजरती है, लेकिन महादेव के सोमसूत्र का उल्लंघन नहीं करती है। लोगों का कहना है कि नंदी महाराज भी रात में यहां चलते हुए भक्तों को दर्शन देते हैं। कुछ समय पहले मंदिर में घंटी-घड़ियाल रातभर अपने आप बजते हुए भक्तों को दिखाई देते हैं।

(On the land of Malwa, there are many historical evidences of the worship of Shakta Dharma (Shakti). There is a Shiva temple in Dangwada, which holds a heritage dating from the Chalcolithic period to the Gupta period. Its name is Boreshwar Mahadev Temple. It is locally believed that it was named Boreshwar due to its 'Bore' (well/pit) like shape. However, it is said about this unique Shivling that the water from its Jaladhari (water outlet/base) never dries up. The Chambal river also circumambulates the temple but does not violate Shiva's Somasutra.

Boreshwar Mahadev Temple is located in Dangwada, 36 kilometers from Ujjain and 6 kilometers from Ingoria. Here is a unique and self-manifested Shivling idol of Mahadev. Mahant Deendayal Giri said that this temple is an ancient Siddha Sthal (a place of spiritual significance).

Boreshwar Mahadev incorporates the 12 Jyotirlingas. The water from Mahadev's Jaladhari never runs out and always remains constant. No matter how much water is poured into the Jaladhari, it remains the same—neither too much nor too little. Mahant Giri told that the Mother Chambal river passes by circumambulating Boreshwar Mahadev, but does not violate Mahadev's Somasutra. People say that Nandi Maharaj also gives darshan to devotees while walking here at night. Some time ago, the bells and gongs in the temple were seen ringing by themselves all night long for the devotees.)
