About Francesco Bruno "Huacapù" Project:

After giving birth to the project “Jamila” in March 2002 ” to help sustain the relief program “Emergency”, guitarist and composer Francesco Bruno recorded a new CD called “Huacapu’”. The CD is a visual and musical journey that goes through 7 songs and also contains a videoclip and photos of that fascinating and contradictory universe of the Latin American countries.

The songs refer to the various realities of Latin America, from the title track “Huacapu” full of Cuban echoes , to “Mi ayer de sempre” in which the sound of flutes ,so related to their folk music, tells about a world deeply changed for the most, but so dramatically distant from the reality of many human beings. From “Nuestra senora terra”, inspired by the struggle of the Mexican people, to Jacarezinho, a strange postcard of Brazil, where you can go from the poverty of the favelas to the people’s desire to fight for a new nation. From the uneasy “Y tu” where the shouting of the Argentine people in the streets introduce a theme which reinterprets the concept of tango, to go on to “Oiga Ehia” , a fiesta of sounds that takes off from the streets of the Caraibi to end up with “Barquito de mi speranza” , a melancholic ballad for a humanity that seems to be ever more distant , grasping on to the hope for a better tomorrow.

In these 7 songs, you can find the musical universe of Francesco Bruno, who after traveling with the former “Matarieh” through the sounds of the Mediterranean, is trying with this project to find a key to his cultural and musical roots, by interpreting the concept of “latinita’” in it’s broadest definition.
