Delaware's Energy Future: A Conversation with Experts

Delaware imports approximately 60% of the electricity it uses from other states via our regional electric grid (EIA). Increasing dialogue about the state’s and nation’s energy reliability prompts the need for discussion about technologies, the electric grid’s function, economics, social considerations, and more.

Particularly of interest are Delaware’s efforts to examine avenues for new electricity generation. The Delaware General Assembly, in its 2025 session, passed a bill to create a Nuclear Feasibility Task Force to explore the potential of allowing nuclear small modular reactors (SMRs) in Delaware. Delaware currently has no nuclear energy facilities, while other states in the PJM region supply this form of electricity to our shared electric grid.

This panel provides an opportunity to hear from experts across different sectors of energy systems, including industry, energy efficiency, and policymaking. The panelists will provide brief presentations, followed by an open session for questions and discussion with attendees. Panelists include:
