Family Dollar security guard murder trial; Three suspects sentenced for life

Описание: All three defendants have been given a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Each will be given credit for time served for their charges.

The three have spent a total of 984 days in the Genesee County Jail.

An alleged argument over a face mask requirement led to the murder of a Family Dollar security guard in Flint in May of 2020.

Now in 2023, the suspects found guilty of the crime by a jury are set to be sentenced in court.

According to trial testimony, several witnesses say Calvin James Munerlyn, who was working as a security guard at the Family Dollar in Flint, and a female, identified as Sharmel Teague, got into a verbal altercation after Munerlyn told the female's daughter she needed to wear a mask inside the store.

The prosecutor says the woman spit on Munerlyn and was forced to leave.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton says a short time later, the woman returned with the two men identified as Larry Edward Teague Jr., her husband, and Ramonyea Travon Bishop, her son.

Both men allegedly entered the store and confronted Munerlyn about "disrespecting" their wife/mother.
