Last night I had the pleasure of watching Whitey's hunting technique.
Early in the night she brought home a fat mouse. I see that often enough, but never saw an actual hunt. As there are always plenty mice running around in the feed area, I was hoping one of the martens would eventually hunt one in front of the camera. Last night Whitey did. Interesting to watch her sneak up on them ever so careful, like a mini-lion. Unfortunately that was a bit too slow for the camera, so it did not pick up again till the final dash, which of course ended outside view, so I don't know if this particular hunt was successful.
At times like this, the limitations of these trail cameras drive me nuts.
