In this video, I wanted to talk about how I keep small hive beetles away from my hives. Hive beetles can destroy a weak hive quick! It is good to treat for them at times of the year when the bee population in the hive falls. It is a paste, or grease, that has worked well for me and other beekeepers in my area.

Recipe for Beetle Paste- US (Metric)
Sugar- 2 1/2 cups (600ml)
Honey- 1/3 cup (75ml)
Shortening (or lard)- 3/4 cup (180ml)
Wintergreen Essential Oil- 1 tbs and 1/4 tsp (approx 16ml)
