2 weeks ago I got the opportunity to venture down to Fresno and Yosemite National Park California. During that time period I was given the chance to ride and view the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad. Enjoy the ride and sights!
The Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad or YMSP for short operates on 3ft narrow gauge built by the California Lumber company which served for commercial service as early as 1874 to as late as 1931. The line was originally used to haul sugar pine lumber down the steep grades of the California wilderness. In 1961, 30 years after it shut down it was opened for tourist service. Today the railroad operates only 3 locomotives. 2 Lima Shay 3 Truck Narrow gauge steam locomotives No.10 and 15 and No. 402 a GE 45 tonner used for shop switching and test/ maintenance trains.
