A forensic report follows generally accepted writing standards that apply to any kind of meaningful writing.

Forensic reports are not an exception. In fact, forensic reports require much higher standards than any other

writing of reports. A forensic report is one that tells the world what took place, investigation tools and

procedures employed by the investigation team and what the investigation team found out and their conclusions.

This chapter concentrates on the writing and editing process for forensic reports for use in support of disciplinary and or court proceedings.

An investigation that is well done without a nice report is like a well-dressed person without the head! As a person without the head cannot explain himself so does a nice investigation without a nice report to explain

what happened, what procedures were used in an investigation, what findings were found, and what conclusions were arrived at.
