[MoHa Radio Recording] Tisséo Citadis 302, Alstom IGBT-VVVF Sound

Recorded the May 5th 2021 with a Tascam DR-07 recorder and a homemade "MoHa Radio" device + amplifier.

In this video you can listen to the traction motor sound of the Citadis 302 trams running in the Toulouse Tramway. The Citadis 302 is the 2nd generation of Citadis trams develloped by Asltom.
This tram is 100% low-floor and is widely use in Europe, especially in France. It is a long lasting generation that exist since 2000 ! It feature the Alstom ONYX IGBT-VVVF traction chain coupled with asynchronous tri-phased electric motor. Because of that the sound you can hear is only due to the carrier frequency, respectively arround 1400 Hz below 40 km/h and arround 2500 Hz above 40 km/h. One special thing about this traction chain is while braking it seems that the inverter send a chopped signal in order to increase the braking power ( 0:55 ) and it is very audible both in this recording and inside the tram as a passenger.
