Welcome to Day 8 of our Nervous System Regulation Journey.
Today we’re gently shifting from noticing (internal awareness) into orienting — noticing what’s around us in the present moment that signals safety.
Orienting helps the nervous system update from “I might need to protect myself” to
“I’m safe right now.”
This can look like:
• noticing colors, light, or movement
• looking around the space you’re in
• orienting to sounds, textures, or temperature
• letting the eyes slowly scan the environment
We’re not forcing relaxation.
We’re not analyzing.
We’re simply letting the nervous system take in now.
This practice is especially helpful if:
• you feel stuck in your head
• your body is on high alert
• rest feels difficult
• your mind keeps looping
As always, there’s no right way to do this.
Go at your pace.
Pause if you need to.
Come back when it feels safe enough.
