Have you heard of these? I have. Many times. However, nothing has ever happened.

Well, let’s go back a little bit to get started with. When you finish high school, the biggest goal is to get accepted into a college or university. This applies to the majority of us. Then throughout all the hustles, rain and storm of sleepless nights trying to submit all the assignments on time, you’ve successfully finished your college and got a degree in your hand.

What’s next?

It’s just a blink of an eye before you know it, you’ve got your first job working in a company. You are happy you landed a good job. You get your first paycheck. People are friendly. They motivate you to work hard. They say they see your potential. They say they want you to lead one day. You’re happy, aren’t you? But wait?

This is a trap. This is a trick. Don’t fall for it. Don’t be happy because of those nice words that trigger your dopamine.

You work because you need money, experience or just love what you do. Don’t work because they say you are good at it, or else you’re just a pawn who is being used and taken advantage of.

Don’t get excited when they tell you that you are the person they have been looking for. They just want you to work harder for them. Their words mean close to nothing.

If you want to wait until you get promoted, I can’t stop you, but I will tell you this.

YEARS.

Yes, it happens, but like 3% of the total workforce gets that privilege to move up that quickly; the rest, like you and me, we are living in the rat race with false promises and hopes.
You will get promoted. I’ve heard this too many times that it means nothing to me now. It does excite me anymore.
I have realized something I should have known way earlier when I started my first job.

We are downgraded.

Know your worth!

You are simply downgraded and told that you don’t have enough experience to work in the position you deserve. So They lower your worth and grade to 2 or 3 below where you are supposed to be. So that you will waste your time doing the job that anyone can do for years in order to get to where you should be in the first place.

It is not worth it.

It has become the culture everywhere in the world. It is not fair for you, me and others; but here we are, working so hard and letting them get to enjoy all the good stuff.

If you don’t start to #RETHINK now, I really don’t know when.
