Evade | Hand Evasion Techniques From a Push | Aikido

Описание: Hand evasions (also known as awase, parries, deflections) are something that I’ve always found interesting. Super rare techniques, only taught in Tenshin lineage Aikido schools. These empty handed parry techniques allegedly were integrated into Aikido from Kenjutsu sword masters. If you practice with the bokken or do any jo or swordwork, you will see the commonalities. Also very similar to pass rush drills in football, where you are fighting the opponent’s hands to create separation and get past the defensive line. Very fun to practice in randori (multiple attacker) situations. A lot of times negotiating space with multiple people coming for you means you need to have the option to escape. These hand evasions are perfect for when you simply don’t have time to do any technique and just need to avoid an attack (maybe to escape) or to reset your position and re-engage. There are evasions from all kinds of techniques: punches, grabs, kicks, etc, but for this video I’m just focusing on the push attack. Hopefully you find value in these aikido techniques.
