This was a surreal moment for me. I started my career with Reebok in 2006, and I’ve been following Mr. Abhishek Ganguly’s journey ever since, as he built Puma in India. Being in the same industry, I kept hearing stories about him, which only fueled my curiosity. After almost 20 years, I finally reached out.
But, here is a twist.
I just didn’t reach out with a cold DM or email. I did what I know best. About six months ago, I made a video on his journey that went viral on Instagram and LinkedIn, and that’s how we connected. I booked my tickets to Bangalore without a second thought.
I still remember the date: 29th October 2025. We met at his office. A meeting meant to last an hour stretched to 4.5 hours. Pure gold.
So much wisdom and calmness in this man. His aura filled the room, and it was honestly a bit of a fanboy moment for me. I’ve already started working on the guidance he shared, and hopefully, we’ll collaborate soon on a creative project.
That’s my story of meeting one of India’s biggest sneaker icons, who helped shape Puma’s dominance in India and is now building an end-to-end sneaker ecosystem with homegrown brands.
I want to tell each one of you because I have experienced this. Nothing is out of your reach. Just step out of your comfort zone, do anything that excites you and makes you happy, do it so well and so much that you catch the destiny by its balls and make it work for you.
