Piano Man Blues is an original blues improvisation by Shock G. In his free-flowing
creative state he channels influences such as Ray Charles, Thelonius Monk, and even
a touch of fellow bay area maestro Sly Stone. This track, perhaps more than any, captures
the spirit of Shock G’s legendary impromptu piano bar and hotel lobby performances. Piano
Man Blues reminds us why Shock G was more than an icon, more than an emcee or
producer, he was a musical genius of the highest order.
