What's Happening in Ohio Amid ICE Activity and Minnesota Shooting

Описание: The week before Christmas, out-of-town ICE agents and border control officers arrived in the Columbus, Ohio area and launched a major effort to arrest undocumented immigrants.

Agents say they arrested 280 people, some of whom authorities say had criminal records. The arrests got a lot of attention but did not spark widespread protests we saw in Chicago, and no one was hurt, unlike what happened in Minneapolis this week.

That’s when an ICE agent shot and killed a woman driving her SUV near immigration enforcement activity The officer shot the woman as she tried to drive away. The two sides in our divided country saw that same video very differently.

Our panel will also discuss how conservative influencers have visited Columbus in recent weeks to target Somali daycare centers. The influencers went to several daycares, tried to enter the buildings and falsely claimed that they were committing fraud with public funding.

This week, the leading Ohio governor candidates selected their running mates. Republican Vivek Ramaswamy selected Ohio Senate President Rob McColley as his lieutenant governor candidate and Democrat Dr. Amy Acton selected former Ohio Democratic Party chair David Pepper as her running mate.

Finally, this week, Columbus on the Record celebrates its 20th anniversary. We look reflect on two decades of the show.
