YAMAZAKI DISTILLER’S RESERVE SINGLE MALT
From the Yamazaki distillery founded in 1923. Situated in the Vale of Yamazaki at the outskirts of Kyoto. Owned by Beam Suntory who also owns Hakushu distillery.
Matured in ex-Bordeaux wine, ex-Sherry, ex-Mizunara and possibly ex-Bourbon casks.

NOSE
Strawberry, cherry, mizunara, milk chocolate, citrus, hint of peat smoke, floral notes, oak wood (mizunara), nuts
TASTE
Raspberry, peach, coconut, vanilla, cherries, dried fruit, wood spice, young whisky, milk chocolate, very oaky
FINISH
Vanilla, cinnamon, milk chocolate, Christmas spices, vanilla, medium long finish, berries, white pepper
WITH WATER
Nose: red wine berries Taste: more red fruit

I prefer the Yamazaki 12.
