Follow us to the summit of Colorado 14er San Luis Peak! This Peak is the only 14er in the La Garita Wilderness area, it is also touted as being the Colorado 14er furthest from a paved road. Often considered one of Colorado's Easiest Fourteeners. Laura and I strongly disagree with this rating! Due to the hikes long distance, we would classify this as a Moderate rated Colorado 14er hike.
Stewart Creek Trail

2023 Route Findings
There is massive pine beetle kill back in the Stewart Creek drainage. I was 1st back here in 2007 and the Forest was way better to look at back then.
Due to this, the trail is surrounded by widow makers (trees about to fall) as well as lots of deadfall along the trail that will make things tougher than they should be.
The Stewart Creek is a common area to see Moose. Laura and I were Lucky enough to see two female Moose on this particular hike.
