Prawn Biryani | Shrimp Biryani | Hyderabadi Style Prawn Biryani | Jhinga Biryani | Prawns Biryani I Prawn Dum Biryani | Bachelors Special Biryani | Shrimp Biryani
Ingredients for Prawn Biryani:
Prawns, shelled & deveined- 450-500 gms (net)
For marination:
Prawns
Salt- 1 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
Kashmiri Red chilli powder -1 tsp
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Lemon Juice : half lemon
*** keep aside for 20-25 minutes***
Rice preparation
Basmati Rice - 2 cups
[soaked for 25 minutes - drain the water and keep aside]
Garam masala & whole spices:
Cinnamon- 2 pieces
Cloves- 4
Black cardamom- 1
Bay leaf- 2
Shah Jeera (Caraway seeds)- 1/4 tsp
Star Anise- 1
Oil - 2 tbsp
Salt - 1 tsp
coriander leaves 2 tbsp
green chillies - 2 nos
Lemon juice : 1 tbsp
** cook rice for 10 minutes -80% **
drain the water and keep it aside
For the Prawn masala/gravy:
2 tbsp oil
shallow fry marinated prawns on high flame until water release.
flip and fry on both sides and keep it aside.

1 tbsp Ghee +1 tbsp Oil
cardamom 4 no's
cinnamon stick 2 no's
onion sliced medium size -2
Salt- 1/4 tsp
Ginger garlic paste- 1 tbsp
Green chillies [slit]- 2 nos
Tomatoes chopped- 2 medium sized red ones
cover and cook till tomatoes are mushy
Coriander powder- 2 tsp
Red Chilli powder- 2 tsp
Pepper powder- 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
Biriyani Powder -1 tbsp
Whisked curd/yogurt- 2 tbsp
combine well
Add fried praws.
coriander leaves 2 tbsp
cover and cook on low flame for 5 minutes
Layered Biriyani
Grease the biryani pot with ghee
keep a pot on tawa.
add Basmati Rice [first layer]
add Prawns masala
add leftover Basmati Rice
spread evenly
1 tbsp ghee
saffron water or food colour
mint leaves
coriander leaves
fried onions
cover and steam [dum] on low flame for 15 minutes.
use the low burner gas.
After 15 minutes, turn off the flame and let it set for 10 minutes.
Serve Biryani with Raita or Curd after 10 minutes.
