On the 3rd October 2019 I had the pleasure of going down the rabbit hole to Vianney Halter's watchmaking world for a day. It was truly an amazing experience that I will never forget. I had a camera with me, so I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
I'm breaking down the visit to Vianney's Watchmaking Workshop into parts which are going to be released weekly.
This is part one, where Vianney describes his prototyping machine, which is a converted SIP MU214B to a cn milling machine. This was a DIY job by Vianney overall several years, but the machine is absolutely amazing. It may one of the most accurate CNC conversions in the world.
We also learn how important and the meaning of what time is to him.
Vianney in my opinion is the greatest independent watchmaker in the world. With his creations truly unique, like the Antiqua, Classic Janvier, Trio and the most current Deep Space Tourbillon. I discovered watchmaking through him and fell in love with this craft, which set me down my own watchmaking journey.
