Those viewers who have been with us for a long time, know that Dr Rahul Saxena and his team are based out of Nagpur. Their team is credited with performing the first deceased donor (cadaveric) liver transplant, first live donor liver transplant (LDLT) and the first combined liver-kidney transplant (CLKT) of central India at New Era Hospital & Research Institute, Nagpur.

This team runs the region’s only full-time, dedicated, comprehensive liver care unit, liver ICU and the liver transplant center, since 2018 and have performed more than 100 successful liver transplants till date.

Dr Rahul Saxena is the Hon. Secretary of the Zonal Transplant Coordination Center (ZTCC) Nagpur; the Joint Secretary of the Liver Transplant Society of India (LTSI) and a member of the Liver Committee of the Maharashtra Government since 2018.
