Recorded on the 5th of July 2023. I once got really excited about learning and performing this piece. This etude is not played that often, but it sure is intense! The reason why this etude is nicknamed the Little Red Riding Hood...? It seems to resemble most of the story line of the "Little Red Riding Hood" fairytale, but really, you have to hear it before you believe it.
What makes this etude so difficult is not just the speed. The etude is in A minor, but in the middle section, it becomes chromatic and modern, with slight acceleration, and then the piece becomes technically a lot more demanding so, that extreme accuracy is key, and therefore, it's extremely difficult to play as clean as possible. Regardless, this is the first time I ever learned a piece for piano solo by Rachmaninoff, let alone an etude. It was a lot of fun to learn and play this piece!
