On 12th May 1996 25035 & 45118 both worked trains on the Northampton & Lamport Railway, from Pitsford & Brampton station which at that time was the only station on the line. The total length of running was about three quarters of a mile from end to end. I beleive this was also the first time 45118 hauled a passenger train in preservation. 25035 was painted in a non-standard livery of BR double grey with black window surrounds, carrying the fictional number 25735. In comparison 45118 was very much "work in progress", with one side painted in BR blue and the other in red oxide undercoat, with rust showing through the seams of the yellow ends. Despite this 45118 put up an excellent performance and sounded very much like a Peak should sound. Of note was one surviving BR(S) 4-DD motor coach which was on the N&LR at that time, but like 25035 & 45118, has since moved on.
