A very busy summers day at Edinburgh Airport, with summer holiday season as well as tourist season in Scotland meaning lots of flights coming & going and a good variety of longhaul traffic as well. The only problem being, the weather. After a long spell of hot dry weather, it came to a abrupt end with some heavy downpours and lots of thunder & lightning across parts of the UK. On this particular Monday afternoon, Edinburgh was in the firing line for a storm. The first hour I was there it was looming in the background across the hills and RWY06 was in use. Then came the torrential rain. Yes I got soaked. There was a few movements I missed out on filming because my camera would've got trashed. Once the rain had passed over the wind changed direction temporarily resulting in a swap of operational directions onto RWY24. So the last bit of the video includes some departures from a very wet runway, in the opposite direction.
If you look carefully theres a few shots where lightning can be seen in the background, although the thunder is dampened on camera by the noise of aircraft which were much closer.
QATAR 787 did a go around. Now this could be due to a number of reasons. Windshear - Change of wind direction - Bad weather / visibility - United 757 lining up in front of it.
It looked like the United 757 lined up infront of the Qatar 787 on final. However I think the Qatar had called the Go Around by that point, then the United 757 was cleared to line up. Could be wrong though.
