This pregnant mama’s babies were trapped inside her, and when surgeons performed an emergency procedure to save her life, they were horrified to discover that one unborn puppy’s foot had pierced through her uterine lining. But the nightmare doesn’t end there. This is one of the most heartbreaking cases of human-caused suffering that we’ve ever seen, and we need your immediate help.

A good Samaritan found Olivia on the streets and brought her to the shelter. The shelter staff immediately knew that something was wrong, and a medical exam revealed a puppy trapped in Olivia’s birth canal. Olivia was rushed into an emergency C-section.

Shortly after beginning the surgery, doctors gasped as they saw that Olivia’s uterus was practically ripped apart. There was zero fluid. One puppy’s foot protruded through her uterine lining. The pup who had been stuck in her birth canal had long since passed away. The next puppy’s intestines were no longer contained within its body. The third puppy had such a severe cleft palate that even after an hour of trying to resuscitate him, he couldn’t breathe, and ultimately passed away.

The fourth and fifth puppies weren’t breathing when they were born. The shelter doctors spent an hour fighting to revive them. After what felt like an eternity, the puppies gasped and cried. We’ve named Mama Olivia’s two surviving babies, Brandon and Stanley, after the medical staff that fought so hard to save them.

In the end, what was left of Olivia’s uterus was removed in a hysterectomy. Considering Olivia’s circumstances and the condition of her babies, we suspect she was a backyard breeder’s cash cow. This disgusting individual prioritized churning a quick buck over Olivia’s health—over her very life—and dumped her the second she experienced complications during labor. We are so thankful someone found her in time. We don’t want to even imagine how different her story may have looked.
