Inside Las Vegas’ busy 9 1 1 center, dispatchers work in seconds to send help

Описание: They're the unsung heroes of all emergencies. The first responders are the call takers and dispatchers who send services such as fire and medical to an emergency in a matter of minutes.

“In parts like it almost feels like that imposter syndrome, because when people think of the fire department, it is the crews that are actually responding. We are like on the back end,” said Communications Specialist Nelly Rodriguez with the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Combined Communications Center.

News 3 had the chance to take a behind-the-scenes look inside one of the valley’s busiest dispatch centers to see what it takes from the moment someone dials 9-1-1 to the moment help arrives.

For nearly a decade, Rodriguez has been one of about a dozen dispatchers on duty at any given time, collectively handling around 1,4000 emergency calls per day at the Las Vegas combined communications center for Fire and Medical.
