A Malaysian rapper has surrendered to police in connection with the death of a Taiwanese social media celebrity, after authorities reclassified her death as murder on November 4, 2025. Wee Meng Chee, who is more popularly known as Namewee, will remain in custody for six days, as police investigate the death of Iris Hsieh Yu-hsin. The influencer was believed to have travelled from Taiwan to Malaysia to work on a video collaboration with Wee. Her body was discovered in the bathtub of a hotel in Kuala Lumpur on October 22. Authorities initially classified the case as a sudden death, but later changed it to murder. Wee was earlier arrested and charged with drug use and possession.
