JUNE HEMMONS HIATT
BIOGRAPHY
I spent the first 20 years of my life in a suburb north of Chicago, the next 10 years mostly in New York City, and since then in the San Francisco Bay Area, with the exception of two years in Ethiopia, and two years in Puerto Rico, where my husband was doing medical research. I have a degree in History from the University of California, Berkeley.

I spent eight years writing the first edition of The Principles of Knitting, published in 1990, several years doing a major remodel of our 1907 house, and then twelve years writing the second edition of my book, which came out in 2012. After finishing the book, our son Jesse and I created a new, patented, design of the traditional knitting belt, a tool I had used for more than thirty years.
