This is a demonstration of some of the differences between high-quality artsit grade gouache and the lower quality "student grade" paint.
I show whites from three brands, Schmincke, Royal Talens and Winsor & Newton. The whites are all versions of titanium white, with proprietary names.
I label the Schmincke "Akademie" white as "student grade", and you may understand why, when you watch the video :)
What you don't see so much is the feel of the paints, where the artist grade ones feel fluent and smooth, whereas the student grade feels streaky and more like acrylic paint, which I don't think gouache should.
