These 4 plants will look good all through autumn and give you something to look at in winter. But you’ll want to start planting them THIS spring.

1. Artichoke — sow seeds in late February to early March in individual pots.
2. Bannow Bay — best planted in Spring and excellent in pots.
3. Carex — can be planted any time of year, and will change colour from green to fiery copper in winter.
4. Sarcococca — Grows in any soil, plant in pots in spring or autumn. Plant in borders in spring.
