LETTERS AND NUMBERS - Incredible Maths Calculation by Sam Gaffney

Описание: Letters and Numbers is a great word and maths tv game show on the SBS network in Australia.

Contestants pick 9 letters in turn and the person who gets the longest word wins the points. Equal points are awarded where words of equal length are produced. With the Maths game, contestants pick 6 numbers from small ( numbers 1-10) or large (25, 50,75 or 100). They then have to use those numbers to reach a randomly generated number up to a 1000, and have 30 seconds to write their answer down. Whoever gets closest to the number gets the points. If both get the number correct, both get the same score.

In this case, both contestants got to the target with the numbers selected. Daniel's solution was excellent. However Sam Gaffney got there with an amazing calculation, one which he wrote down after only 20 seconds. Sam went on to win the fourth series of the show and also the Masters series comprising of the winner and runners up from the first four series of the show. He is just as amazing with words as he is mathematics.

Letters and Numbers is one of my favourite shows and I regret to say that SBS has decided to 'rest' the series. This is terrible news for fans of the show like me. It must be one of the few shows on TV that provides a challenge for its audience to play along with the contestants, which I love to do.
