This Aztec Gold Double Esquire just came in from the Winter 2018 NAMM show, but its warm, throaty sound conjured images of summer for me! The neck pickup is warm and bassy, but it manages to avoid the dreaded low-end flub. The midrange is woody yet vocal, so imagine the sound of one the giant tree-people from the Lord of the Rings singing and you'll get a rough idea of it sounds! The bridge position is full of bite! The midrange has so much snap to it that it's impossible to ignore, and the trebles have just the right amount of chime to balance things out. Overall, this guitar speaks with a clear, round, even voice, and that's what makes it so inspiring! Being able to hear every nuance of your playing with such clarity forces you think think carefully about every little bit of vibrato and every articulation. Simply put, this guitar forces you to pay attention, and because of that it pushes you to new heights of expressiveness. Feast!
