Space Warlords never played by the rules. While their contemporaries chased chart success and radio play, Graham Ashford (guitar, vocals), Nigel Hartley (guitar, synthesizers), Simon Blackwell (keyboards, vocals), Colin Thorne (bass), and Trevor Wainwright (drums, percussion) were too busy exploring the outer reaches of human consciousness and the darkest corners of dystopian imagination.

Cosmic Drugs captures the fictional band at their most experimental and uncompromising. Recorded in the same dingy Essex studios and basement rehearsal spaces that birthed their first collection, these seven tracks showcase Space Warlords pushing their sonic palette further into the red: more synthesizer alchemy, heavier grooves, and lyrics that read like transmissions from a parallel dimension where society has collapsed and humanity has scattered to the stars.
The tapes sat forgotten for over forty years until Roll & Toast Records' archival team—guided by original bassist Colin Thorne—located the masters in a Basildon storage unit. After months of painstaking restoration, these recordings now sound more vital and immediate than ever.
