Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story is the 2004 sports comedy that takes the age-old gym class trauma of dodgeball and cranks it up into an absurd, laugh-out-loud competition where the stakes are high, and the headshots are frequent. Vince Vaughn stars as Peter LaFleur, the laid-back owner of a failing gym, who enters a dodgeball tournament with his band of misfit clients to save his business. Their opponent? The hilariously over-the-top White Goodman, played by Ben Stiller, a narcissistic, mustachioed fitness mogul whose insane intensity makes you wonder if his real workout routine is just guzzling ego shakes.

Compared to today’s slick, feel-good sports movies, Dodgeball is pure chaotic fun, full of ridiculous characters, impossible stunts, and jokes that somehow still land despite their complete absurdity. From iconic lines like “If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball,” to the ridiculous commentary of ESPN 8 ("The Ocho"), the film revels in its silliness while still making you root for the lovable underdogs. It’s a glorious throwback to when comedies didn’t need to be deep or edgy—they just needed to make you laugh out loud at the sight of grown adults getting nailed by rubber balls in slow-motion.
