While having a family get together in Darfield, near Christchurch, I made use of my proximity to the Midland Line to get some video footage of the last days of the Dx class and see their replacements, the DM class.
This video starts with a light DM heading west through Darfield to the Fonterra dairy plant at Racecourse Hill, a few kms further west.
The DM picked up 12 wagons with empty coal bins and 24 loaded with milk powder, for the fairly short trip to Lyttleton where the milk powder containers will be shipped to overseas markets.
I'll upload more from this trip in the next week or two.
