Royal Blackburn Hospital offers medical treatment to many of the residents of East Lancashire including enhanced recovery for bowel surgery and emergency care for children and adults. In addition to the modern facilities within the first stage of the hospital the new building includes state of the art new inpatient facilities, centralised outpatients department, new operating theatres and Accident and Emergency Department.
The Royal Blackburn Cardiology department is one of the best in the country, with new 3 million pound facilities allowing a wider range of treatments. These treatments can be carried out on site, avoiding long journeys to Blackpool or Manchester which can increase anxiety and discomfort in heart patients. With the building of these new facilities and the work done by to heart surgeons, deaths rates have been dramatically reduced.
