The streets of Caracas saw a dual display of national pride and political tension as Venezuelans marked Youth Day. While government-aligned student groups marched in support of the interim administration, thousands of other youths took to the campus of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) to demand the release of political prisoners. The commemorations occur in a drastically altered landscape following the January 3, 2026, U.S. military intervention (Operation "Absolute Resolve"), which resulted in the capture of Nicolás Maduro and the installation of Delcy Rodríguez as acting president.
