After Bob (Michael Douglas from Wall Street, Basic Instinct and Ant-Man) takes a liking to Dupree (Owen Wilson from Starsky & Hutch and Midnight in Paris) and asks him to go fishing with him, it enrages Carl (Matt Dillon from Crash) because - even though he doesn't like fishing - it's Bob's way of approving someone. Carl's fury boils over as he then imagines Dupree hanging out with Bob and engaging in sex with Molly (Kate Hudson from Almost Famous and Bride Wars), causing Carl to jump across the table and attempting to strangle Dupree; Bob hits Carl over the head with a candlestick shortly after. Carl goes to Neil's (Seth Rogen from Knocked-Up and Neighbors) house to ask him if he can stay for the night, but Neil cannot accept, his girlfriend doesn't agree.

What’s the You, Me and Dupree movie about?
On his return from his honeymoon, Carl Peterson (Matt Dillon from Crash), a real estate developer, learns that his friend Randy Dupree (Owen Wilson from Starsky & Hutch and Midnight in Paris) has lost his job and his home. Without bothering to consult his wife Molly (Kate Hudson from Almost Famous and Bride Wars), Carl offers his friend a place to stay for a few days. The days stretch into weeks, without Dupree doing anything to improve his situation. On the contrary, his retarded teenage gaffes and irreverent behaviour undermine the newlyweds' peace of mind a little more each day. His presence is all the more burdensome because on the professional front, Carl is mocked by his powerful boss, Molly's father, who never misses an opportunity to let him know that he's not up to the job.
