Showing our walk through the historical New Forest in Hampshire on a frosty morning. We walk across the crunchy frozen grass and talk with some of the ponies.
The New Forest dating back to William the Conqueror in 1079 as his own royal hunting ground has roots dating back to the Bronze Age. After having many of its big oak trees felled to help provide the Royal Navy with its wooden boards for its sailing ships in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is now a National Park for recreation, conservation and tourism.
It is also a working landscape giving the commoners the right to let their animals graze freely along with controlled timber production.
We were close to the village of Burley on a very cold (-3c) frosty morning for our walk through time to see for ourselves how magical the place was.
