Took the Yak to Fayetteville, Texas to Fayette Lake and got onto to some bass with some deep crankbaits. I have been wanting to get out on this lake for a while now. It is only about an 1hr 15min from Houston so it is not a bad drive. Oak Thicket Park is where the boat ramp is located.
I got there around 8:30am which I wanted to get there earlier but spent too much time at Bucees lol. When I got there I had a positive feeling that it was going to be a good day of fishing.
I got my first bass pretty much right away around the boat ramp with a little swim bait and that was a good sign. But then I noticed what I think now was an Eagle that had a fish in his claws way up on a branch, that was sick. Then I saw a crane staring off looking for schools of fish to dive on.
I spent the next hour and a half fishing the banks and didn't get any bites. I decided to take it out deep. I saw a couple of boat fishing what looked like finesse worms or something. I decided to throw on some deep diving crankbaits.
First cast set it off, caught one right away and I kept pulling them out with the same crankbait. It was a Berkley Dredger 10.5 shad colored deep crankbait. I ended up losing the lure lol I think the total count of fish was around 7 caught with a few missed; especially that big one at the end.
Lake Fayette was a real fun time and was definitely worth the trip. I haven't really had a chance to fish deep and it was exhilarating to feel them crush it deep and bring them all the way up.
I appreciate everyone for watching
